An outpouring of the Spirit in Madrid

For many years Christ for all Nations had been receiving invitations from Spain to hold an evangelistic campaign and a Fire Conference in that country. Last year I met the president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Spain and a wonderful evangelist, Juan Cano Lopez, whose vision for the lost coincided with our vision for Spain. After an initial meeting with leaders of some of the denominations, it quickly became apparent that Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke was welcomed by all evangelical Christians, and the leadership of the Fellowship of Ministers in Madrid (COMIMA), headed by Enrique Montenegro, immediately offered help in setting up this event. Finding a venue was a tall order but the right decision was made in booking the Las Ventas bullring. This place, where pagan gods were worshiped in ancient times and the blood of bulls was “sacrificed”, would become holy ground. From our first inspection of the place, we realised that God was behind our plans and that this place would become a place of salvation, healing and deliverance.

The first session of the Fire Conference was opened by Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke. He powerfully set the stage for what God had in mind for Christians in Madrid and Spain. People from almost all denominations – including the African churches, Philadelphia (gypsy churches) and other evangelical groups – were represented. People came not only from Madrid but also from other parts of Spain, England, Romania and Germany to receive from the Lord. I can truly say that no one left the place disappointed. When Evangelist Daniel Kolenda took the microphone, hardly a minute passed before everyone present felt the anointing on this young co-evangelist working side by side with Reinhard Bonnke. The Word was preached with the same authority, and when both evangelists shared in laying hands on individuals, the same fire of God came from the one and only Jesus in the most amazing way!

On Friday evening Evangelist Bonnke opened the meeting with a red-hot message, an indicator of what was to come. Then Evangelist Kolenda took over – like a relay runner taking up the baton – and continued preaching a crystal clear message that stunned even seasoned ministers in the crowd. As the Bible says, the fruit confirms the preaching. We witnessed hundreds of people flooding into the space in front of the stage in response to the altar call. Tears of regret and repentance ran down the faces of young and old and “new creations” left the arena with the joy of the Lord as their strength. After the prayer for healing, the most amazing miracles took place. One mother who had brought her three children along – two of whom had been deaf for many years – came to testify to what Jesus had done. Both children were completely healed and the whole arena was filled with great joy.

When a little boy of about eight came to the front to give his testimony about how Jesus had touched his ear and restored his hearing, Daniel asked for a witness. A loud cry came from the crowd. Mother and father were standing in the middle of the great mass of people, unaware of what God had done. They quickly made their way to the stage and, moved by the wonderful love of God, testified to this healing miracle. Praise be to God!

At the end of this outstanding event, which was also broadcast live by satellite all over Latin and North America as well as in parts of Europe, we counted almost 2,000 signed decision cards; these cards have now been passed on to the local churches for the follow-up work. Many wonderful reports are also already reaching us from all over the world.

We are now heading to our next great gospel campaign in Otukpo, Nigeria, where we expect another great harvest of souls with hundreds of thousands of people saved. Millions upon millions of souls are being added to the Kingdom of God – through smaller events like those in Europe or in events that attract huge crowds such as in Africa, Asia or Latin America. The work must and will be done!

Good news in the bullring

The night before our event a bullfight took place just in that very arena in Madrid, Spain, where shortly after our Great Gospel Campaign would take place. As I stood in the arena, I told the people that I was glad they had removed the bulls before sending me into the ring. Our struggle is not with flesh and blood; we wield the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and have come to cut down every demonic stronghold through the preaching of the gospel.

Tonight was the first evening of the evangelistic campaign, and we were so blessed. I preached on Romans 13:14: “Clothe yourselves with  the Lord Jesus Christ” and when the altar call was given, the people poured in from all sides until there was no more room ... yet they kept on coming. Although there are many religious people here, religion has never saved a single soul ... only Jesus saves. At the altar I was moved to see so many people weeping tears of repentance. I am sure that salvation had begun flowing through that stadium before the prayer of salvation was even prayed.

Then mighty miracles began to happen. There was an extraordinary sense of the presence of the Holy Spirit on the platform that seemed to impact every person on it ... including myself. We are not in Africa now, but we are seeing the same results – salvation, signs, wonders, miracles and healings.

Saturday, 13 June 2009: Spain shall be saved!

The message went out strong and clear to the thousands gathered in the stadium as well as to the unknown thousands watching the live TBN broadcast throughout Europe. The response was again overwhelming. As the people streamed forward by the hundred, one young local evangelist said, “I have never seen anything like this in my life.”

We heard the testimony of a man who had been on his way to commit suicide when he saw one of the posters for the meeting. He came to the service last night and was dramatically born again.

One lady said that she had never been in a service like this before, but last night she had a dream in which she clearly saw me and the stadium. Tonight she received her healing along with many others, including many deaf ears that were opened.

One young boy had been brought up by his cousin. Both of his feet were twisted and pointed inward. During the prayer he told his cousin that something was happening to him. She looked at his feet and realised that they had straightened out. He demonstrated his healing on the platform, and she said she had never seen him walk like that before. What a dramatic conclusion.
