Great Gospel Campaign in Mubi, Nigeria
11 - 15 February 2009
Nigeria
Nigeria,
which is by far the most densely populated country in Africa, is
divided into 36 federal states. Owing to the large population, it will
continue to be the focus of CfaN’s work in 2009. The north of the
country, which gradually changes from steppe to desert, is
predominantly Muslim, whereas the south has been superficially
Christian since the colonial era. One of the country’s main problems is
an unhealthy religious mix (syncretism) of Christianity and animism. A
fair number of Nigerian “Christians” continue to make sacrifices to
their ancestors, go to heathen festivals, wear talismans, worship
totems, etc.
A Bible-based, uncompromising proclamation with a
call for a clear conversion and a sincere commitment of one’s life is
urgently needed in many places, including those with an apparent
Christian heritage. In fact, it is no different from Europe, where,
despite a history of Christian influence, there are many places where
Bible-based Christianity is not easy to find.
Mubi
The town of Mubi in the state of Adamawa in eastern Nigeria is on the border with Cameroon. It is situated in a mountainous region, the foothills of the Mandara Mountains, on the Yserdam River, which – unusually for Nigeria – does not flow to the sea but northwards to Lake Chad, 300 kilometres away.
Until the First World War the town was part of the German colony of Cameroon. One of the markets still has roofed market stalls which date from that time. From 1919 to 1961 the town was then part of the British mandate territory of British Cameroon. Mubi now has two markets, a state hospital and a polytechnic and has for some years also been the location of four faculties of Adamawa State University. Most people earn a living from handcrafts and agriculture and there is virtually no industry.
Mubi, which has a population of 250,000, is a regional centre and has become a melting pot for people from the many small surrounding tribal regions and particularly from the Mandara Mountains. Muslims make up 40% of the population and Christians account for roughly the same percentage. There are a considerable number of traditional animists in the surrounding area. An emir, a traditional Muslim ruler, resides in Uba, some 20 kilometres away. His palace and the main mosque form a single unit.
We are sure that God has prepared a mighty harvest in this region. The doors to Mubi are open and we are going there to proclaim the gospel of peace.
Arrival - Tuesday, 10 February 2009
Dear Mission-Partners,
What a welcome to Mubi/Adamawa State, Nigeria. IT WAS OUR HOSANNA-DAY! Multitudes upon multitudes welcomed us, lining the roads. We traveled from Yola by road. It was a drive of four hours through a dry and thirsty land. Dust everywhere. About 70 miles before Mubi people began to line the road, shouting “Bonnke! Kolenda!” Have a look at the attached picture. It was overwhelming!
The State Governor had welcomed us in the State Council Chambers at Yola, and now the Emir of Mubi embraced us with the words that they had waited for our coming for a long time. All is set for tomorrow, the first crusade-meeting. We don’t need to warm up, we are hot already.
Mubi is bordering on Cameroon and we expect huge numbers of people. The Gospel will be preached and Jesus will triumph in this highly remote part of the country! Please pray for us – and a very special thank you to those who have helped us to make this Gospel Crusade happen.
Evangelists Reinhard Bonnke and Daniel Kolenda,

Day 1 - Wednesday, 11 February 2009
Dear Mission-Partners,
The first meeting of the Gospel Crusade in Mubi just finished and we returned to the Lodge. It was a glorious start. 350,000 people attended tonight! Have a look at the awesome picture. The Word of God and His presence penetrated each and everyone with multitudes repenting of their sins and receiving Jesus Christ as their Savior. The field is the biggest we have ever had. It could hold 5 million people, which possibly is way above the population in this rural area. Nevertheless we want to harvest every soul available for Jesus. Miracles happened non-stop! So many blind received their sight. See the picture of the Muslim gentleman with the yellow hat. He was 8 years totally blind, but Jesus healed him!
It moves our hearts to see the mass of people that have arrived under their own steam from the surrounding towns and villages and now camp on the dusty field until the end of the last service on Sunday. Jesus loves each and every one of them. We read that the Lord had a special eye for the unwanted, like Zacchaeus, the Samaritan woman, the Roman soldier, and the blind beggars. He knew the best of them … and the worst. He saw the fears, felt the despair and recognised the courage of little people. He was the supreme champion of the needy, the Saviour of their souls and the healer of their sick bodies. How similar the situation is today. JESUS IS THE SAME TODAY. His ministry continues through us His servants.
Thank you for praying for us. We are very grateful indeed. We cannot do this work without you. Don’t forget to open the attached pictures please – you will be greatly blessed.
Yours together in Harvest with the whole CfaN Team

Day 2 - Thursday, 12 February 2009
Dear Mission-Partners,
Today, the second day of the Mubi-Crusade saw an increase in attendance from 350,000 to 425,000 people. Evangelist Daniel Kolenda ministered tonight. It was pure and powerful Gospel and a great number of people received Jesus as their Savior.
This afternoon we were on the gigantic Former Army Shooting Range field, our crusade-venue, and were overwhelmed: around 50,000 people were camping out there in the dust... waiting for the evening service. This is the way it must have been in Israel during the days of Jesus when the crowds followed him, except that the crowds here are much bigger. Yet the same Jesus was also here tonight and again a flood of miracles followed the prayer for the sick: A mother came with her blind child. In tears she told the story of how she had put the child on her shoulders during the prayer for the sick and said, “Look up to Jesus”. She laid her hands on the baby and instantly the child’s eyes were opened! (See attached picture). Once again many other blind people received their sight and many cripples walked. A paralytic testified to total healing and a woman with a swollen belly said that during the prayer she watched as the belly shrank to normal size right before her eyes!
This morning the people gathered already at 5 AM for the Fire Conference and Peter van den Berg and I preached. We want God’s people to swim in God’s river of living water! God never supplies anything lifeless. In the Bible, water is living water, fire is living fire, bread is living bread and joy is living joy - living happiness. God does not operate a production line. He is involved in a perpetual action of newness, renewing, creating every moment, just as every moment the sun generates new light and heat. He is our Sun, our burning light, filling all our horizons with His glorious light and strength. He shines in Mubi-Land!
The momentum here is increasing wonderfully. Please continue to pray for us. We love you and pray for you too.

Day 3 - Friday, 13 February 2009
Dear Mission-Partners,
The third day of the Gospel Crusade in Mubi has passed. The momentum is growing fast, because tonight 540,000 people attended the service. The message we preach? JESUS SAVES! What does it mean? A full definition is impossible. It covers all life and isn’t just insurance from hellfire and a passport to glory. ‘Jesus saves’ are perhaps the world’s most comprehensive two words needing all sixty-six Bible books to explain. It is simple but has awesome depths, like all God’s ideas, and inspires new explanations and applications every day. Multitudes responded and received! Oh, what a wonderful Savior. And then came another deluge of healing miracles followed by powerful testimonies. Look at the incredible pictures attached: One lady, blind for three years, smiled ear to ear as she demonstrated her healing to the delight of the crowd. A young lady who was BLIND AND DEAF FOR 23 YEARS received her sight and hearing! 12 women came up at once testifying that they were healed of bareness one year ago at our Yola crusade...they brought the evidence of their healing; 12 beautiful bouncing babies!
The weekend is before us and we anticipate a glorious Holy Spirit crescendo. Thank you for standing with us and praying for us. The Lord will be your great rewarded.
Yours together in the Harvest with the whole CfaN Team,
Evangelists Reinhard Bonnke and Daniel Kolenda

Day 4 - Saturday, 14 February 2009
Dear Mission-Partners,
This morning began with the Fire Conference in Mubi-Town. 65,000 church-workers attended – have a look at the attached awesome photograph! Their hearts were as parched as the landscape around them, but the God who answers by fire did it again. Yes, the fire of the Holy Spirit really fell mightily. This Holy Spirit Baptism-experience is not for glory-fits on the carpet, but equipment for the task of the Gospel, to give it substance and reality.
And then the evening-meeting started with 630,000 people in attendance (A picture of a portion of the crowd is attached). The Gospel rang out as clear as a bell - and with glorious results. Daniel Kolenda was preaching. The messenger was marked by the message. The Word was “Thus says the Lord” and not “I am telling you...” Such Word penetrates and affects us, stops us in our tracks, spins us around, and gets us going for God, for ever. How much we wished you could have personally witnessed it.
All throughout the sermon the crowd was spontaneously erupting as miracles were taking place - without anyone praying! Innumerable sufferers received healing and deliverance. The line of those waiting to testify was almost unending. It’s as if torrents of healing waters rushed through the massive gathering.
- One young lady was crippled for 20 years. During the prayer for the sick, she fell on the ground and said that a man surrounded by light wearing a white garment came to her and said, "What do you want?" She said, "I want to be healed". When she awoke she discovered that she had full use of her legs...she could even run! (have a look at the attached picture).
- One little muslim boy who had crawled on the ground all of his life, stood upright for the first time tonight!
- A young girl's right foot was crippled. For four years she had walked on the side of her foot that was permanently twisted beneath her. I could see the thick callouses on the side of her foot. During the prayer she said that she fell to the ground. She heard a cracking sound and saw how her foot straightened. Jesus healed her!
Tomorrow, Sunday night, is already the last meeting of the crusade in Mubi – North Nigeria. Please keep praying for us. We need it so much.

Day 5 - Sunday, 15 February 2009
Dear Mission-Partners,
One should call it THE MUBI-MIRACLE! It is beyond description. Tonight’s meeting was attended by 500,000 people – and that in North Nigeria! I can’t stop looking at these wonderful faces. The Holy Spirit brought us here. HE made us to seek the lost, look for the overlooked, and as we found them, in turn, they were found by JESUS. The total attendance over the 5 days of Gospel-Crusade here stands at 2,445,000 people. We call it the Mubi-Miracle because it happened against all odds: First we were on the point of cancellation, due to lack of finance, when the Lord made “a way in the mighty waters”. Second it is the most unlikely of all places in Nigeria to have seen such a glorious heaven quake! Tonight’s miracles were no exception, as you see the from the pictures: the blind saw and more cripples walked.
A big thank you to all of you who stood and stand with us. We cannot recline or retire. In a few weeks our “wheels of fire” will take us back to another such place, this time the town of Bali in Tabara State, Nigeria. Please continue to stand with us and pray for us.
Yours together in the Harvest with the whole CfaN Team,

The Mubi Miracle
Looking for the Overlooked
One should call it THE MIRACLE of MUBI because it is beyond description. The largest single meeting had an attendance of 630,000 people, and that in Northern Nigeria!
The Holy Spirit brought us to the place and he made us seek the lost, look for the overlooked, and as we found them, they in turn were found by Jesus. The total attendance over the 5 days of Gospel Crusade meetings was an astounding 2.4 million people.
We also call it the Miracle of Mubi because it happened against all odds. First, we were on the point of cancellation, due to lack of finance, when the Lord made “a way in the mighty waters.” Second, it is the most unlikely of all places in Nigeria to have seen such a glorious ‘heavenquake.’ To say this place had been overlooked, is an understatement, as even well traveled Nigerians from other areas confessed that they had never even heard of it. But Jesus had, and he led us there by his Spirit to experience an almost indescribable flood of salvation, deliverance, and healing power over the 5 days of meetings.
Crusade City
Because of the rural nature of the area, people traveled in from the surrounding region, many on foot, and even while our technicians were setting up the crusade equipment days before the event. They reported that thousands of people began congregating on the open field around the platform. The number grew daily until by the time the first meeting began, a multitude estimated at 50,000, were already ‘camping’ on the crusade ground forming a ‘Crusade City.’ Every evening, the ‘residents’ were joined by hundreds of thousands more who streamed to the evening Gospel meetings and for the whole week, it looked like the entire activity of the town of Mubi had been transplanted to the crusade site.
The Power of God
Night after night, the harvest continued and as Daniel Kolenda preached in successive meetings, such was the drawing power of God’s word that the crowd increased in size nightly until reaching an amazing 630,000 by the weekend. A total of 1,401,837 completed decision cards were handed in and the people were ushered into the church-based follow-up system by the tens of thousands of trained counselors. Every night, people pushed toward the platform after the evangelists had prayed for the sick, and the crowd rejoiced and cheered as local people testified of their instant healings. Others lined up on the platform to report healings that had taken place one year before at the CfaN crusade in the distant city of Yola and the rejoicing of the crowd rose through the dusty air to heaven.
Contagious Fire
In addition to the great evening Gospel meetings, delegates from around the region gathered each morning at another venue for the ‘Fire Conference.’ With 65,000 delegates, this was to be one of the biggest Fire Conferences held to date by CfaN, with the amazing difference that the other ‘big’ conferences were in major cities and this one was in a small rural setting, far from the main thrust of national life. And such was the hunger of the delegates to receive the ‘Fire’, that the conference venue, an open field, was packed to capacity by 6 a.m. each morning, most having arrived in complete darkness. The result was that the first speaker for the day was already in full action by 7 a.m.
By the final meeting of the Fire Conference on Saturday morning, it was wonderfully obvious that thousands of these servants of the Lord had received the fire of the Holy Spirit and would return to their towns and villages with a renewed zeal to reach the lost for Jesus.
The Miracle goes on
On the final night of the campaign, Daniel Kolenda preached the Gospel one more time and after the call to salvation, he gave a teaching on the baptism into the Holy Spirit. Right after this, the huge crowd were invited to receive this gift personally from the Lord Jesus himself and in the space of just a few minutes a tumultuous roar of praise went up to heaven as hundreds of thousands of voices began to praise him in new tongues as the Holy Spirit fell.
Everywhere we turned, people were eager to tell us how the power of God had touched them, and of how they had been saved and healed, delivered and set free, many from demonic oppression and possession that had bound their families for generations.
Repeatedly, we heard from church leaders that such happenings had never been seen in Mubi and we heard how they felt their time of ‘being overlooked’ was over.
Jesus has once again so vividly demonstrated his great willingness to ‘save the lost’ when we ‘seek them out,’ and the best thing of all is that with many hundreds of thousands saved and healed in this region, the miracle of Mubi will continue for decades to come as they in turn spread the Good News of the Gospel far and wide.
Report by Peter van den Berg
Supernatural Results!
Dear Mission Partners!
We hadn’t even planned on publishing an Impact magazine for our Mubi
Crusade, but the results were so miraculous that we knew we had to
share them with you. The faithfulness of God to provide, guide,
restore, and deliver, will encourage you in whatever situation you may
be in. As God’s servants, we make plans and work hard to achieve them –
but then, God steps in and the results are supernatural. The Mubi
Campaign was miraculous from start to finish. It happened against all
odds: First we were on the point of cancellation, due to lack of
finance, when the Lord made “a way in the mighty waters.” Second,
largely Muslim-populated, Northern Nigeria is a most unlikely of places
to have seen such a glorious ‘heavenquake!’
Unprecedented Harvest
The Gospel was proclaimed and rose triumphant! When the decision cards
were counted, we discovered that 1.4 Million people received Jesus as
their Savior! In all, 2.4 million people attended (with up to 630,000
in one service) and innumerable sick and suffering received their
healing. A big THANK YOU for standing with us. Your support enabled us
to go and preach the Gospel to the precious people in Mubi. The
magnitude of what God did in this overlooked region of Northern Nigeria
is just stunning.
It moved our hearts to see the mass of people that came from near and
far to hear the Word of God. Jesus loves each one of them. We read that
the Jesus had a special eye for the unwanted: Zacchaeus, the Samaritan
woman, the Roman soldier, and the blind beggars. He knew the best of
them … and the worst. He saw the fears, felt the despair, and
recognized the courage of little people. He was the supreme champion of
the needy, the Savior of their souls, and the healer of their sick
bodies. How similar the situation is today. JESUS IS THE SAME TODAY AND
FOREVER.
Yours in his Love and Service,
Evangelists Reinhard Bonnke and Daniel Kolenda
