Great Gospel Campaign in Bali, Nigeria

11 - 15 March 2009

Nigeria
Nigeria, which is by far the most densely populated country in Africa, is divided into 36 federal states. Owing to the large population, it will continue to be the focus of CfaN’s work in 2009. The north of the country, which gradually changes from steppe to desert, is predominantly Muslim, whereas the south has been superficially Christian since the colonial era. One of the country’s main problems is an unhealthy religious mix (syncretism) of Christianity and animism. A fair number of Nigerian “Christians” continue to make sacrifices to their ancestors, go to heathen festivals, wear talismans, worship totems, etc. A Bible-based, uncompromising proclamation with a call for a clear conversion and a sincere commitment of one’s life is urgently needed in many places, including those with an apparent Christian heritage. In fact, it is no different from Europe, where, despite a history of Christian influence, there are many places where Bible-based Christianity is not easy to find.

Bali
In eastern Nigeria, Bali, which lies 400 kilometres to the south of Mubi, is another town that was once part of the German colony of Cameroon. It is the centre of the mountain region of southern Adamawa which rising to over 2,000 metres in places. The Bali tribe, which moved into the area from Sudan some generations ago, was once known for its very war-like attitude and cannibalism.

The town is in Taraba State. As well as its official name, each state in multi-ethnic Nigeria also has a “title” that often sounds very appealing and is used for advertising and such like. Because of its attractive landscape, Taraba is referred to as “Nature’s Gift to the Nation”.

The Basel Mission Society set up a mission station in Bali 120 years ago and began its very blessed work there. However, in places like these there has been no sizeable evangelistic outreach for decades. The Christians in the region are longing for fresh fire from heaven, encouragement and a mighty spiritual breakthrough.

The CfaN Team has never been to this region before. The towns of Wukari and Jalingo, where we experienced mighty breakthroughs for the Kingdom of God in February 2005 and August 2006, are slightly less than 200 kilometres away. We know that it is time to go to the highlands of Bali, to a region which needs to hear the gospel so that it can be freed from age-old chains and bondage. The Lord has called us – and we are not going to hesitate about going!

We are expecting to experience a great deal in the months ahead. Once again, millions of valuable souls are at stake. Who knows what these events may achieve in the visible and invisible worlds ... for the region, for Nigeria, for Africa … and for the whole world!

In the name of Jesus we want to plunder hell and populate heaven!
