Day 1 - Wednesday, 31 October 2007

Dear Mission-Partners,

Here we are in Agbor, Nigeria. We just returned from the first Gospel-Crusade meeting. It was glorious. 125,000 were already in attendance! Click here to view a larger image of the image above.

A wave of salvation moved across the big field. It looked as if every single soul got saved. What a joy in heaven and on earth. And then miracles of healing took place. A woman, whose baby had died in her womb found that her child was moving again. A man suffering from a stroke and unable to walk, demonstrated perfect health.  The testimonies go on and on. What an honor to be involved in such a glorious move of salvation.Thank you for all your prayer and gifts which have made it possible.

Sometimes we see more people receive Jesus Christ in one day than the entire population of Rome in Paul’s day! However, without the sacrifice and dedication of men and women over the past 150 years and more, I doubt whether we would see much happening today. We reap with joy where other men and women have labored with tears. I find it almost frightening, and certainly exciting, to think that Philip, Paul, Peter, and all those wonderful people relied on us to carry on where they left off. Their burden has shifted to our shoulders, but thankfully so has their cloak of power.

Day 2 - Thursday, 1 November 2007

Dear Mission-Partners,

Today it rained during the night and the morning, turning the huge crusade-field into a quagmire. Yet the crowd grew to 165,000! Click on the image above to view in full size.
In the meeting tonight I asked my co-evangelist Daniel Kolenda to preach and make the altar-call, which he did very well. I then took over from him and prayed for the sick. The miracles that happened were staggering. Two totally blind people received perfect sight. One man with a broken leg could walk without his crutches. Huge fibroids disappeared and a lady, who had not been able to walk for 20 years, was totally healed... It moves me to tears when I see how the Lord attends to everyone who comes - one on one, enacting ancient mercies.
What a mighty God we serve! We are “in a bundle of life” with the Lord. “I will” ties bride and bridegroom together, but God’s “I will” embraces us all. To Israel He declared, “Your Maker is your husband” (Isa 54:5). When God says “I will” nothing can deflect Him from his purpose. He said, “I will pour out my Spirit on all people” (Joel 2:28) and He is doing that, despite unbelief and opposition. He said, “Whoever comes to me I will never drive away” (Jn 6:37) and He never does. He stakes His reputation, His name, on His character. When He made a covenant with Abraham, “since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself” (Heb 6:13). We are safe!

Day 3 - Friday, 2 November 2007

Dear Mission-Partners,

It rained again today. The huge field was filled with mud-puddles. Yet the people came, in their best clothes. I preached my heart out and the power of the Gospel set the crowd free. Tonight Peter van den Berg counted 185,000 people in attendance, although from my vantage point on the platform it looked more than 500,000.

A mighty flow of the Holy Spirit touched the people and set the captives free. A woman, who was totally blind for 5 years received absolute perfect vision. Miracle followed miracle. The news is spreading across this whole area and we expect huge number tomorrow and on Sunday. Thank you for all your prayers.

The Fire Conference was also very blessed this morning. Peter van den Berg and I ministered and the crowd was shaken. Tomorrow morning the fire will fall from heaven – the promise of the Father will be fulfilled here in Agbor. We will continue with the soul-saving ministry. Instead of waiting “till revival comes”, we have laid our own fingers on the promises of God and go ahead. The Supreme Commission, the Word of God is our authority for action. Thank you for standing with us and helping us to bring this humongous harvest in. Your reward in heaven will be great.

Day 4 - Saturday, 3 November 2007

Dear Mission-Partners,

Today was the climax of our Fire Conference in the stadium. 14,500 registered church-workers were in attendance when the fire fell. It simply was glorious. Peter van den Berg preached again and then I followed with some teaching of my own. What a joy and honor to serve the Lord and minister to these dear people.
 
And then the evening-meeting: today was no rain and the crowd grew to 325,000. Evangelist Daniel Kolenda gave a short evangelistic introduction and then I followed with a message of salvation, one on the Baptism with the Holy Spirit and Fire, as well as ministry to the sick. We can truly say that we have seen the glory of the Lord.
A young man, deaf and dumb, could hear and speak – the crowd went wild! We all were deeply touched. Cripples walked and so many more received gifts of healings from Jesus Himself.

Tomorrow is the final day, and we expect capacity crowd. Please continue to pray for us.

Day 5 - Sunday, 4 November 2007

Dear Mission-Partners,

We just returned from the final meeting of this crusade. 400,000 people had gathered to hear the Word of the Lord. Again Daniel Kolenda gave a “sermon before the sermon” and then I followed. All I can say is that a mass-conversion followed. The field exploded with hundreds of thousands of people calling on the name of Jesus for salvation! We feel that we have been exposed to what awaits us in heaven, when the crowd, which no one can number, gathers before the throne of God.

Thank you so much for praying for us and helping us to bring this harvest in. The Lord Himself will be your great reward.  Miracles of healing followed again the preaching of the Word. Wonderful testimonies rocked the service.... We give God all the glory The Christian Faith is either a power-religion or it is nothing. It may look tame, but so does an electric cable – till you touch it. This is the experience of innumerable people here in Agbor, Nigeria. We are rejoicing!

Authority in ancient Agbor

A mighty wave of salvations
Right across a muddy field, carved straight out of the jungle, the people stood. Silent to hear every word, captivated by the salvation message and the love of Christ, many stood in foot-deep sticky mud. At the front of the platform, there were pools of muddy water, yet each night the people came, removed their shoes, lifted their hands, and opened their hearts.
   
Steeped in the occult and bound by witchcraft, the ancient, rural city of Agbor has been reigned over by kings for generations. In unprecedented visits to the palaces of three local kings one after the other, Bonnke was introduced to dozens of chiefs and local rulers, and the Gospel message was welcomed. Before rulers of ancient kingdoms, the Name of Jesus, the majesty and authority of the true King of Kings and the Lord of Lords was proclaimed.

Signs and Wonders
Each night, the crowd was enthralled by the stream of healing testimonies presented on the crusade platform. Just as the Bible declares, after the preaching of the Word and prayer for the sick, signs and wonders followed. In pockets across the huge field, joyous praise erupted as crutches were raised, the blind received their sight, and the deaf began to hear. It was a practical demonstration of the faithfulness of God to His people.

One woman named Ngbonko, testified of being an epileptic for 26 years. She said that both arms would always ache and loud noises would cause splitting headaches, a large scar on her forehead gave witness of her falling into a fire during one of her fits. Her husband had died and she had been left alone with four children taking only herbal medicine in an attempt to bring some relief. On the night of the crusade she was helped to the meeting with much pain in her legs and unable to move on her own. When Bonnke’s prayer of healing rang out she obediently lifted one hand to heaven and the other she placed on one of her many aches … But now there was no pain! She moved her arms and the pains that had plagued her had gone. She could bend, twist, and even leap and run. The next morning, I visited her home and indeed she was able to do things that had only caused her discomfort and pain for so long. She easily carried a grinding stone out of the kitchen and sat with me on the front steps of the house and demonstrated to a group of confirming neighbors how she could grind peppers again. She smiled broadly as she gave thanks to God for all that He had done!

 
Tearing down Strongholds
By the Friday evening, a large amount of witchcraft ‘juju’ items: idols, fetishes, animal skulls, and bottles of herbal medicine had been thrown into the two large drums that sat alongside the campaign stage. Each night Bonnke had prayed against curses, tearing down spiritual strongholds, telling the people that they should bring such things so that they could be publicly burnt. ‘Do not simply bury such things!’ he had told a group of visiting evangelists, ‘Burn them, and make sure that they have been totally destroyed!’ Sure enough, that night two large fires were set and while the people rejoiced and danced the things of the devil were consumed in the fiery flames. The people were being set free into their new life in Jesus! They were turning from darkness into light and watching the things that had bound them destroyed! There was much reason for great celebration!

The Christ for all Nations team continue to press forward with the vision of One Hundred Million decisions for Christ in this decade!
 
Words of Praise from dumb Lips
Spending time with Nwamaka (‘Child is Good’ in her native Ika language) and her family, one would never suspect that this pretty, young woman was born totally deaf and dumb; the doctor even told her mother that there was no opening in her left ear!

On the first two nights of the Agbor Crusade, she came with her family and stood watching in silence the man of God on the brightly lit crusade platform. On the Friday night, however, she was a little closer to the front with her brother, mother, and father when during the prayer for the sick, she suddenly heard a strange noise in her ears… Her eyes widened as she looked around, shocked at first, overcome at this new strange sensation and pointed to her ears. What was more, she, for the very first time, said ‘Amen!’ then … ‘Hallelujah!’

Overwhelmed with joy, her mother pushed her to the front of the huge crowd and then brought her to Bonnke to testify of how God healed her. The evidence that something happened was clearly written on the young girl’s face, in the tears in her mother’s eyes, and by the praises of all gathered when they shouted as they heard her repeat Bonnke’s words in the microphone.

The next day, I went to visit Nwamaka at her home. While I stood behind her so that she could not see my lips, she repeated as I counted, ‘1–2–3’ … (the words weren’t perfect but she was trying), clapped when I clapped, and shouted when I shouted, something miraculous had happened! The mother, the father, and the brother all said that they never heard her speak before the Friday night! They never saw her so happy. As I left, she waved and through a huge smile said, ‘Good-bye,’ not once but time after time … I saw her each night after that and each time she improved adding ‘Jesus,’ ‘Nwamaka,’ and other words to her rapidly growing vocabulary. God is good and He surely impacted this little lady’s life!

On the first night of this recent Gospel Crusade in Agbor, I watched as a wave of salvation moved across the open field. It was as if every single soul in attendance got saved! What a joy in heaven and on earth … and then miracles of healing took place, confirming the signs-following power of the Gospel message! It moves me to tears when I see how the Lord attends to everyone who comes – one-on-one, enacting ancient mercies.

He said, “Whoever comes to me I will never drive away” (John 6:37) and he never does. Agbor is an old city, steeped in the occult, but as you see from the pictures, the people came from the many villages around despite the rain and mud. After the five days, that whole area quaked under the impact of the Gospel, with 886,000 registered decisions for Christ.
Hallelujah – what a Savior!

The ‘Supreme’ Commission
